AT YÜ ENERGY, WE AIM TO SOURCE AS MUCH OF OUR ELECTRICITY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES AS WE CAN.
On 1st October, we published our latest annual fuel mix which disclosed that 96% of our electricity came from renewable sources. That’s significantly higher than the UK average of 29%.
WHAT IS A FUEL MIX?
Electricity may be generated from a mix of different sources. The different fuel sources include; coal, nuclear, natural gas and renewable (e.g. wind, sun and water). Energy suppliers all purchase different combinations of these fuel sources to provide energy for their customers.
The Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations 2005 requires all energy suppliers to publish details about the mix of fuels they use to generate their electricity. The fuel mix discloses the percentages of each fuel source, and their overall environmental impact is shown by the amount of carbon dioxide which is emitted per kilowatt hour (kWh).
OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR CUSTOMERS
We have demonstrated that 96% of our electricity comes from renewable energy sources. That means that even customers that aren’t on our REGO-backed 100% certified green energy plans, have contributed to our commitment to source primarily from renewable energy.
We will continue to use renewable sources of electricity, where we can, as part of our commitment to help reduce climate change and maintain a greener energy supply.
WHERE DOES OUR RENEWABLE ENERGY COME FROM?
From wind turbines to solar panels and hydro power schemes, we use different renewable fuel sources to help support generators in reducing the carbon footprint of the electricity industry. The energy we purchase from renewable sources is certified by an EU Guarantee of Origin to prove the power comes from 100% renewable sources.
We’ve recently published our 2017-2018 Fuel Mix which highlights exactly where our energy comes from:
