Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC)

Your guide to CRC and what it means for you

What is the Carbon Reduction commitment?

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a mandatory government UK regulatory incentive put into force in April 2010. It’s designed to improve energy efficiency and cut the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of high energy users within the private and public sector.

The scheme applies to organisations with an annual consumption exceeding 6,000MWh of electricity with half-hourly billed meters. Some public bodies must take part in CRC regardless of their electricity usage. These are called mandated participants and they include all UK central government departments and devolved administrations.

What does this mean for me?

Each year one of your requirements as a CRC participant is to collate your energy information for the CRC year (01 April to 31 March) and submit this to the Environment Agency. Yü Energy can help you by providing you with a copy of your annual usage statement.

How to request a copy of your annual usage statement

Participants are required to submit their requests by 31st March each year, all requests must be sent via e-mail to customercare@yuenergy.co.uk and include the following:

  • Account details
  • Contact information
  • Letter of authority if acting on behalf of a 3rd party

Upon receiving your request Yü Energy will reply within 6 weeks of the end of the CRC year.

If you would like assistance in managing your CRC commitment, don’t hesitate to contact your Relationship Manager or email customercare@yuenergy.co.uk
